Dollympics 2014- Opening Ceremonies

Hello, people of the world. My name is Lissie Merriman. Along with my team of trusty mini reporters, I will be covering the Winter Dollympics taking place in Sochi, Russia.
There is a total of 4 events in this year's Dollympics: figure skating, skiing, snowboarding, and speed skating. Three countries will be competing for gold: United States, France, and Russia.

Last night, exactly one night after the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies took place, the Dollympics Opening Ceremonies took place three blocks over.
A ballet dancer opened up the show.
She leapt and spun across the stage, smiling at the audience.

After her reverance, the graceful dancer flounced off stage.
A singer took the stage next. She sang the three national anthems of the competing countries.

The Parade of Nations ended the extravaganza. US came out first. From left to right- Lanie Holland (Skiing), Saige Copeland (Figure Skating), Alex Saratoga (Speed Skating), and Ruthie Smithens (Snowboarding).
France was soon to follow. L to R: Marie-Grace Gardner (Snowboarding), Cecile Rey (Figure Skating), Claire Dupont (Speed Skating), and Marie Charlier (Skiing).
Last but certainly not least, Russia marched onstage. L to R: Molly McIntire (Figure Skating), Caroline Abbott (Snowboarding), Felicity Merriman (Skiing), and Addison Blanc (Speed Skating).

This year is going to be an exciting year for the Dollympics. Throughout the week, the scattered events will take place. Who do you think will take home the gold?
